Octava Bassa Malbec 2014 - Malbec
In the Uco Valley, surrounded by the Cordon del Plata at the foot of Los Andes, lay the vineyards that make up Winemakers Village in The Vines of Mendoza, known for their unique terroir and sought by renowned winemakers to have their own projects. This is the source of some of the best Malbec in Mendoza. It’s here Abremundos created five wines that have aficionados cheering loudly. Their series of wines have all musical theme with names such as ‘Octava Bassa’ and ‘Octava Superior’, showing the winemakers intertwined passion connecting music and wine. Everything about this magnificent 100% Malbec wine is exquisite, trying to capture the sensuality that recalls the richness of the bass registers. It has an incredible precision and freshness yet it's so intense with layers of aromas of blackberries, burnt orange peel, plus hints of stone and terracotta. The 2014 Octava Bassa is a complex and bright red, with dark berry, dense plum and focused aromas, complemented by lightly round and silky tannins. A powerful full body with an elegant balance and a savory finish. If you’re trying to please a crowd, Malbec is generally a safe bet with its combination of dense fruit and soft tannins. An ideal companion for Sunday roasts, like game, poultry, lamb, pork, as well as pasta and hard cheeses. Octava Bassa is aged in French barrel for only one year causing little effect, enhancing and the floral and fruit characters. Limited production of 3,322 bottles. Serve between 14-16° C (57-61°F).
