In 2003, the Cuvelier Family started making their own wine at their new modern winery in Mendoza, focusing on Argentine wines made in an old world, French style. Always producing fine wines worthy of their French family tradition. Cuvelier Los Andes Merlot, embodies the pure expression of the grape of Valle de Uco, Argentina.  With our Merlot we offer the distinctive flavors and Mendoza’s purest expressions of that other emblematic varietal in Bordeaux. We produce this wine using the same process, care and love as per our Colección. We only use grapes in our Varietals range, until our youngest vines are mature enough to produce grapes with enough complexity to qualify for our top wines. The aromatic level of this varietal impacts, showing depth and complexity, with intense and spicy notes of raspberries and marmalade. A medium body, rendering soft entry and a nice texture, that flows smoothly along your tongue like a true Merlot exuding character, smoothness and charm. Featuring sweet hints of marmalade and jam, well-made tannins and structure, defining its typical and varietal character of the region. A very fine Merlot. Go ahead – just be lazy, relax and enjoy this wine! This merlot is an ideal companion to richly sauced dishes such as steak (or even fish) in a red wine sauce or with casseroles. Merlot-friendly accompaniments for main dishes are caramelised roast veggies especially those with a touch of sweetness, such roast squash, red peppers and beets and - as mentioned above - fried or grilled mushrooms. Aged 60% in French oak barrels during 11 months. Best served at 16°C (61°F). Awards: Tim Atkins : 92 points.
