San Felipe Extra Brut - Sparkling
Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally. The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. But little is known about the fact that Argentinians love sparkling wine! It's a little secret that the Argentines have been keeping to themselves. Rutini, as one of the largest winegrowers in Argentina founded in 1885 is also one of the leaders in producing Espumante or best know internationally as Sparkling wine. Champagne can only be called Champagne if it comes from the Champagne region in northern France. While sparkling wine, better known as Espumante in Argentina, has been produced since the 19th century. It wasn’t until the mid-20th century that production began to ramp up. In 1959 Champagne house Moët & Chandon selected Mendoza as the location for its first overseas subsidiary. Now there are approximately 160 wineries producing sparkling wine in Argentina, the majority in Mendoza.
This San Felipe Extra Brut is composed of Chardonnay and Pinot characterized by a straw yellow color with greenish reflections, delicate persistent fine beading which demonstrates its finesse and quality. . The nose opens with a fruity bouquet, with pleasant hints of pineapple and white peaches. Citrus notes appear on the palate, with a slight hint of toast and a clean fresh finish. It is an ideal companion for fish and seafood dishes, it is ideal in combination with first courses and white meats.
